Irudi mintzatuen hiztegi poetikoa (poetic dictionary of spoken images) consists of preparing an audiovisual “dictionary” of Basque expressions in danger of extinction. In other words, by creating a collection of short 2-3 minute videos, each one based on an expression, local expressions and landscapes are lyrically collected.
To date, we have five expressions and we have made a short film with that title. In the future, we will continue to collect more sayings, and at the same time, we will be creating a platform to show said videos on the Internet, thereby making up an audiovisual “dictionary” available to everyone.
Some of this project’s objectives are to compile immaterial Basque patrimony, to disseminate the videos amongst the Basque-speaking community and to offer them the possibility of making their own contributions based on the sayings referenced by the project.
Although the project’s intent is not strictly educational, it is important to promote the participation of the Basque-speaking community, all while disseminating these videos that are especially sensitive with Basque amongst both adults and youth in said community.
Consequently, the proposal for that day is the following:
- Short film projection Irudi mintzatuen hiztegi poetikoa.
- Presentation of the project and its objectives.
- Work dynamic. On one hand, to collect contributions based on Basque and its sayings, and on the other, we want to listen to proposals to encourage the participation of the Basque-speaking community to disseminate our project therein.
To make the meeting more pleasant, and in light of the time, there will be coffee and cakes.
