The project seeks to create a documentary database of buildings and to demonstrate a local and traditional architectural style of eternal vocation yet recent creation. We want to shed light on examples of constructions that reveal this relationship between the past, present and future.
This call aims to raise awareness on trends in reconstructing the Basque cultural identity within the scope of architecture. This cultural and social phenomenon, which we have dubbed “Neoberri”, is as interesting with regard to the definition of regional town-planning policies as it is to the constructed interpretations of this thousand year old culture undergoing accelerated transformation.
We seek any architectural work, public or private, that responds to an interpretation of traditional Basque culture, and built after 1970, in the Basque Country, Idaho, etc.
At the time of writing this publication a second call for proposals was open, promoted by the ATARI and REFLEX associations, inviting the participation of all publics, with no restrictions.
