“I have adopted, out of choice, the realist convention of rhetoric: to show something where there’s no longer anything to see, and by painting, to multiply the themes of this analogy – paintings in oil which due to the nature of the representation heighten reality, and in fact exclude themselves, where the specular prevails over the spectacular.
In the shade of my obsolete tree, I create a pictorial space deliberately poor, which focusses the eye on the wait for an image, a drama or a revelation.
